AN ARGUMENT between an aunt and her niece has resulted in the stabbing of another in Sitio Kabatuan, Barangay Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City at 9 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2022.

Maribago barangay councilor Arvin Abing said the aunt, identified as Marife Luchavez, allegedly lost her patience when her 17-year-old niece (name withheld for being a minor) did not heed her advice not to eat the yellowfin tuna (barilis), their viand for breakfast, as she was allergic to this.

Luchavez admitted to stabbing the victim at the height of their altercation.

Luchavez's mother, who pacified the trouble between the two, was also hurt.

“Gitambagan siya nga ayaw’g kaon ana kay mao ra ba nay hinungdan nga gi-rescue sa nurse sa health center. Akong giingnan nga pagpalit og imong sud-an kay bawal man ka ana,” said Marife.

(She was told not to eat that (yellowfin tuna) because this was the reason why she was rescued by a nurse at the health center. I told her to buy her own viand since 'that is not allowed for you').

Councilor Abing, accompanied by the operatives from the Mobile Patrol Unit of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, went to the house of the warring relatives and brought them to the barangay hall to settle the matter. (Flor V. Querubin, TPT)
