Bacaro fractures hand, out of Kumbati 10 show

UNBEATEN prospect Carlo Bacaro is out of Omega Sports Promotions’ upcoming “Kumbati 10” show on July 3, 2021 at the IPI Complex in Mandaue City after suffering a hand injury.

Bacaro fractured his right thumb in a sparring session with Omega Gym teammate Tomjune Mangubat.

“Yes. He fractured his thumb,” Omega Gym head coach Jinggoy Junco told SunStar Cebu. “His recovery will be four to six months.”

Junco said Bacaro broke his thumb after hitting the head of Mangubat.

The 21-year-old Bacaro was supposed to fight fellow prospect Jhunrick Carcedo in an eight-rounder.

“Kumbati 10” features an Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation Silver featherweight title fight between former teammates Pete Apolinar (14-1, 8 KOs) and Jess Rhey Waminal (14-3-1, 8 KOs) in the main event.

World-rated Mark Vicelles (13-0-1, 7 KOs) trades leathers with fellow unbeaten Jerven Mama (12-0-1, 7 KOs) in a 10-round bout co-main event.

In the undercard, Christian Araneta (19-2, 15 KOs) locks horns with former world title challenger Richard Claveras (19-7-2, 16 KOs), Mangubat faces experienced Ernie Sanchez (19-15-1, 10 KOs), Regie Suganob (6-0, 2 KOs) is up against MJ Bo (8-42, 4 KOs), Benny Cañete (2-0, 1 KO) takes on fellpw unbeaten Jimpol Dignos (2-0, 1 KO), Rodel Suganob (2-0-1) squares off with Mark Jequinto (4-6-1) and Franco Serafica (5-1, 3 KOs) slugs it out with Jeffrey Stella (4-10-3, 4 KOs).
