THE Talisay City Government has been intensifying its vaccination campaign against coronavirus disease (Covid-19) with the continued deployment of its Dental Van for mobile vaccination in villages.
Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas said most of the eligible residents who trusted the vaccines have already been fully vaccinated, adding that the number of those who walked in for first dose decreased lately in the city’s four vaccination sites.
As of September 14, the Talisay City Health Office recorded a total of 44,000 fully vaccinated individuals.
Gullas said the city’s Dental Van has been going around barangays every day for mobile vaccination.
He added that the City first partnered with the Philippine Red Cross for the mobile vaccination, but the latter could not attend to it every day.
He said that as of September 15, the mobile vaccination of the city has accommodated residents of Barangay Dumlog.
Gullas said the City Government is ready to incentivize the vaccination program soon, adding that he already talked to the vaccination head regarding it.
"Actually, we've been talking about it with my vaccination head, then naghuna-huna nami og incentivize na gyud ang pagpakuna. Karon, what we're still doing is we're bringing it closer to the barangays," Gullas said.
He said senior citizens are mostly difficult to convince to have themselves vaccinated, but he is optimistic that with the help of health workers and barangay officials, the elderly will soon be encouraged to submit themselves for vaccination.
Gullas appealed anew to his constituents to follow the health standards even if the number of Covid-19 cases in Talisay City had gone down.
He encouraged the residents to get themselves vaccinated to prevent severe symptoms of Covid-19.
Gullas said they implemented a 10 to 14-day quarantine period set by the Inter-Agency Task Force, depending on symptoms experienced by infected individuals.
He said he also allowed home quarantine for Covid-19 patients who have mild symptoms, and they are properly monitored by health workers. (MVE)
