THE Lapu-Lapu City Government gave out a total of P150,000 as reward money to barangay and police officials for their anti-illegal drugs campaign.

Mayor Junard "Ahong" Chan said on his Facebook page Monday, August 8, 2022, that P50,000 was given to Barangay Caw-oy, while P100,000 was handed over to the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LLCPO).

Barangay Caw-oy received the award for being declared a "drug-cleared" barangay in the city.

"Hatagan gayud og pasidungog ug financial reward ang mga barangay nga kauban kanako nga naningkamot gayud nga malayo ang mga katawhan sa ginadiling drugas ug mapugngan ang pagsulod sa mga tigpayuhot niini," said Chan.

Meanwhile, the LLCPO was awarded by the City Government for its successful buy-bust operations that led to the apprehension of two high-value targets.

The separate operations were conducted last June 13 and 25 in Barangays Pajo and Poblacion, respectively, and led to the seizure of P2 million worth of substances believed to be illegal drugs.

"Bisan pa man sa kadelikado sa ilang trabaho, ila gayud barugan ang maong katungdanan aron mohatag og proteksyon sa yanong mga Oponganon maong makiangayon lang nga makadawat sila niining pasidungog ug makadawat sila sa atong giandam nga P100,000 isip financial reward," said Chan.

The award was received by LLCPO Director Police Colonel Arnel Banzon during the flag-raising ceremony at the City Hall. (IRT)
