THE Cebu Sherilin Trading-Bears outlasted the Gothong Shipping Lines-Rhinos, 92-89, to move closer to securing the top seed in the Elite Basketball Cebu Season 18 last Sunday at the Casals Gym.

The Bears led for most of the way until a fourth period rally by the Rhinos led by VisMin Super Cup Mindanao Challenge Conference Edrian Lao pushed them ahead by a single point. However, clutch shots by James Ferraren and Sam Hermosa ultimately gave the Bears a three-point lead, 92-89, with just seconds remaining.

The Rhinos had numerous opportunities to tie the game up but three-point attempts by Shane Menina and Ervin Lopeña missed the mark as time expired.

Hermosa led the Bears with 29 points and eight rebounds as they improved to 9-1 with just one more game left on their elimination round schedule. The Bears on the other hand, dropped to 7-3 and into a tie with the Aneda Builders-Falcons, which dropped the Cheetahs, 107-87.

Vince Albano led the Falcons, amassing 33 points, nine rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a block.

And finally, the Vipers bested the Bulldogs, 84-78, thanks to Jawein Ceniza’s 18 points and nine boards. The Vipers improved to 4-5 while the Bulldogs fell to 2-8.
