‘Being brown, gay and an immigrant’: Bretman Rock featured on July cover of Teen Vogue

Filipino American influencer Bretman Rock graced the cover of Teen Vogue's July issue following his June cover feature for Nylon Manila, which he dedicated to gay Filipino kids.


"King of Manifesting": "Someone pinch me, this is unreal," Rock wrote in a celebratory Instagram post.

  • On the Teen Vogue cover, he is referred to as the “King of Manifesting," because he has achieved everything he sought after in his life.

  • “I really don’t think there’s anything in my life right now or any accomplishments that I have that I didn’t manifest,” the star said in his interview with Teen Vogue.

  • Rock was also featured as part of Nike’s Pride Month Be True campaign.


About Rock: The social media sensation was also named People’s Choice Awards Beauty Influencer of the Year in 2019 and one of Time’s 30 Most Influential Teens in 2017.

  • He stated that growing up on the internet was “the most traumatizing thing” he’s ever done and that his “flamboyant persona” was a defense mechanism.

  • "Being 'brown, gay and an immigrant’ has opened him up to trolls and criticism,” wrote GMA News.

  • “It's my coping mechanism to be unapologetic, not giving a f*ck, to be loud,” said Rock. “Me just putting on whatever I want to wear today, people find confidence in that. But to me, I'm just coping."
