Belle Mariano has been named one of the Outstanding Asian Stars at the upcoming Seoul International Drama Awards 2022, becoming the first Filipina to be awarded the honor.

The Outstanding Asian Star Prize was conferred on five Asian artists after a month of voting on the Idol Champ application by global fans. Nominees had included 175 male and female actors from Japan, China, Thailand, Taiwan, and the Philippines.

The 17th Seoul International Drama Awards will be held on September 22. Mariano will be joining the other honorees in the formal awarding in Seoul, South Korea, where the ceremony will be broadcast live on KBS 2TV.

Rise Artists Studio, ABS-CBN Films’ talent management arm, celebrated their star's win in an Instagram post.

“Congrats Belle for winning the 'OUTSTANDING ASIAN STAR' in the Seoul International Drama Awards,” Rise Artists said. “Rise Fam is very proud of you!”

While the Kapamilya actress is the first to win this award, Kapuso stars Alden Richards and Dingdong Dantes had received the same honor in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

Mariano rose to fame for her portrayal of Maxpein Del Valle Luna in "He’s Into Her" and Gabbie Salazar in "Four Sisters Before The Wedding".

The 20-year-old is set to star in Star Cinema’s upcoming film "An Inconvenient Love" alongside her onscreen partner Donny Pangilinan.

Incidentally, both Mariano and Pangilinan were nominated for the Outstanding Asian Star award.

Also known as the "DonBelle", the pair have previously starred together in He's Into Her and Love Is Color Blind. They also performed at the “He’s Into Her: All Access” concert last August 27.

Charlie Dizon, Dimples Romana, Jake Cuenca, Maris Racal, Kaila Estrada, and Zanjoe Marudo were the other Star Magic stars nominated for the Outstanding Asian Star award.
