Angeles City, Pampanga — Hundreds of visitors from various areas in Northern and Central Luzon, including Metro Manila, gathered at the Marquee Mall, here, yesterday to launch the three-day “Big Bite Northern Food Festival.”

The three-day cooking festival that kicked off early Friday morning was led by First Lady Herminia de Guzman-Pamintuan, who represented her husband Angeles City Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan.

She was joined by Angeles City Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting and other visitors in opening the food market featuring food products and delicacies of different towns and provinces in Central and Northern Luzon.

The opening day of the food festival was highlighted by the gathering of chefs in cooking “biringhe,” a Kapampangan specialty dubbed as the local version of Spanish paella, in a giant pan.

The cooking of the heritage dish, stirred in a giant paellera measuring 11-feet in diameter was led by Pampanga’s native son Chef Sau del Rosaio, celebrity Chef Laudico, and Pampanga’s culinary historian Lillian Borromeo.

Del Rosario led the afternoon’s cooking demo. Today, Sabrina Artadi, star of Asian Food Channel’s Sabrina’s Kitchen will lead the cooking demo while “Kusina Master” Chef Boy Logro will regale visitors with his cooking demo tomorrow.
