Former Davao Occidental and Rizal guard James Regalado is slated to lead the campaign of the Dumaguete Warriors when they compete in the inaugural season of the Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup, which tips off on April 9 in Alcantara.

Nicknamed “Big Game James” for his penchant for hitting timely shots when the stakes are high, Regalado is eager to play for Dumaguete, which isn’t too far off from his hometown of Dauin, Negros Oriental.

Regalado will be reunited with his former teammate at the University of San Jose-Recoletos, Mannie Gabas. The wily, left-handed forward who used to play for the Manila Stars and the Cebu-Casino Ethyl Alcohol in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL), will also be suiting up for the Warriors.

Two other former MPBL players are on the Dumaguete Warriors in point guard Nikki Monteclaro and shooting guard Jeric Nacpil. The 5-foot-9 Monteclaro used to suit up for the Pasig Pirates and the Paranaque Patriots while the 6-foot-2 Nacpil, previously played for Pampanga and Imus. (JNP)
