POLICE seized P6.2 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested a big-time drug personality in a drug bust in Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City Wednesday, August 18, 2021.

Arrested was Jeffrey Galido, alias Epoy, 31, a resident of Sitio Puntod, Barangay Mambaling. Seized from his possession were P6.2 million worth of substance believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu).

Police Lieutenant Colonel Jannete Rafter, chief of the Cebu City Police Office-Operation Branch, said Galido is the source of some of the illegal drugs seized in previous operations in the city.

He was placed under surveillance and when the police confirmed that he continued to operate his illegal drug business, a drug bust was launched around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, in Sitio Pagatpat, Barangay Mambaling.

Police investigation revealed that Galido has a contact person inside the Cebu City Jail. The contact person was identified as Ar-Ar Repuela, who was jailed for his involvement in the illegal drug trade.

Rafter said Galido was very elusive, as he used to transfer from one place to another to elude arrest.

He has been considered a big-time drug pusher in Central Visayas, as he could sell up to three kilos of shabu in a month, added Rafter.

“Kini man gud siya, accordingly, medyo na dugay-dugay gyud ang case build-up sa atong kapulisan bisan dugay nani siya ga dula pero mag balhin-balhin siya. Sukad nga naka bantay siya nga naay maniid niya nga police, mag balhin-balhin ni siya, mo gawas sa probinsya nya mobalik na pud,” Rafter said.

Police are now tracking down Galido’s cohorts, whom Rafter said are now the target of their follow-up operations. (AYB/LMY)
