Bong Revilla Stars In First Teleserye For 2013, ‘Indio’

Whether in politics or show business, Sen. Bong Revilla Jr. always surprises the public with his career decisions. His latest is starring in an epic, action-packed drama week nightly series titled ''Indio.''

Slated for a 2013 airing on GMA-7's primetime block, ''Indio'' is Sen. Bong's first teleserye as well as his entry to the competitive primetime ratings race of soap operas.

So, what convinced him to accept the project ''Indio?''

''I'm not getting any younger. Sooner or later mag-singkuwenta na tayo, lalabas na [ang] mga linya-linya natin sa mukha. Although ngayon, controllable pa, cute pa rin,'' he replied, smiling.

He added that when the project was discussed with him, he was easily sold to the idea. Compared to TV projects offered to him in the past, he felt that ''Indio'' was the right fit for his persona as actor.

''Mapili talaga ako. With 'Indio' sabi ko pwede and I'll do it. Kasi mahirap talaga 'yan 'pag sinabi mong soap opera, everyday 'yan. Kung baga hand to mouth 'yan, talagang paguran 'yan. Ngayon pa lang nararamdaman ko na 'yung pagod,'' he shared.

According to him, being a lawmaker and a public servant are still his topmost priorities. He could only work on ''Indio'' when he doesn't have a session.

''I'm very happy working in 'Indio.' Alam ko na hindi lang para sa sarili ko ang ginagawa ko, pero sa mga tao rin. Nakakatulong ako kasi nakakapagbigay ako ng trabaho [and] at the same time napapaligaya ko rin [ang] mga tagahanga ko,'' he said.

''Indio'' also goes beyond action scenes or stunts which he is known for. This time around, he also focused on the acting.

''Bago ako sumalang ay naghanda tayo d'yan. Kung papaano 'yung tindig ni Indio, kung papaano 'yung characterization niya. Pinorma rin ako ni Laurice Guillen, nag-workshop din ako sa kanya. Tapos sa actual naman para mabuo 'yung character ni Indio, nakatutok din sa akin si Phillip Salvador as acting director.''

The public is said to get a taste of the full trailer or teaser of ''Indio'' when the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival opens on Christmas Day. Bong also has an entry in ''Si Agimat, Si Enteng Kabisote at Si Ako'' co-starring Vic Sotto and Judy Ann Santos.

Bong and family will spend Christmas Day fulfilling their yearly tradition of giving gifts to the people of Bacoor. A few days ago, he sent relief goods to victims of typhoon Pablo through his KAP program or Kaagapay sa Araw ng Pangangailangan.
