Police are searching for a man who assaulted a woman in an unprovoked attack while she was waiting for a bus.

The victim was at a bus stop on Beechey Road, Bournemouth, at around 6am on Saturday, 28 May, when a man approached her from behind and punched her in the face.

The man did not say anything to the woman and ran off after the assault, police said.

His victim, a local woman aged in her 30s, suffered bruising and swelling as a result of the attack.

Investigators have now issued CCTV images of a man they want to question.
