A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD boy was rescued from drowning while bathing in a public swimming pool in Barangay Palanas, Alcantara town, southwest Cebu around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2022.

The victim (name withheld for being a minor), a resident of Barangay Cabil-isan, Alcantara, is now recuperating in a hospital.

According to a spot report from Alcantara Police Station, the victim was bathing in a public swimming pool with his stepmother and four-year-old brother when he accidentally slipped into the deep portion of the pool.

The victim, who does know how to swim, tried to stay afloat but eventually drowned.

Police Staff Sergeant Richard Cababat, investigator for Alcantara Police Station, told Sunstar Cebu that some Palanas Barangay Hall personnel who noticed the boy pleading for his life immediately came to his rescue and brought him to Badian District Hospital, where he was declared out of danger.

His father was also with them but left for a while to pick up some passengers. (GPL, TPT)
