A BOY almost drowned after he slipped and fell into a public swimming pool in Barangay Palanas, Alcantara, Cebu on Tuesday morning, August 30, 2022.

Prince (real name withheld), a seven-year-old resident of Barangay Cabil-isan in the southwestern town, was declared out of danger after he was rushed to the Badian District Hospital.

Staff Sergeant Richard Cababat, investigator of the Alcantara Police Station, told Superbalita Cebu the boy was with his family when the incident happened.

He said the boy’s father, a habal-habal driver, had to ferry a passenger, leaving Prince with his four-year-old sibling and their stepmother.

The two were reportedly playing by the pool, while the stepmother sat nearby, when Prince slipped and fell into the deep end of the pool.

Someone saw him flailing in the water and immediately sought assistance at the barangay hall not too far away.

Barangay officials led by the barangay captain quickly brought the boy to the hospital. (GPL/PJB)
