Brgy. councilor in Bohol suspected to be ‘gun runner, rebel group supporter’ arrested

A BARANGAY councilor and allegedly the leader of a criminal gang engaged in gun-running activities in Bohol was apprehended by enforcement agencies early Friday morning, June 25, 2021.

Carmilo Tabada, 51, councilor of Barangay Poblacion in Trinidad town, Bohol, was arrested when enforcement agencies served a search warrant issued by Judge Azucena Macalolot-Credo of the Regional Trial Court-Talibon on June 21, 2021.

One .45-caliber pistol and its live ammunition, one grenade, and subversive documents were confiscated from his house during the search.

The operation was done by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 7, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 7, 62nd Special Action Force, and 47th Infantry Battalion Philippine Army.

Tabada is also suspected to be the leader of the Tabada Crime Group that allegedly engages in gun-running activities. He is included in CIDG Bohol’s target list of personalities.

He is also suspected to be an active supporter of a communist group called the Bohol Party Committee. (AYB)
