MANILA, Philippines – The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) warns the public of a “fake news” going viral on social media claiming the existence of a P10,000 banknote.

On its official Facebook page, the BSP said it “has not produced and has not issued a 10,000-Piso NGC banknote” and that it only has six denominations in its New Generation Currency (NGC) banknote series currently in circulation — the 1,000-, 500-, 200-, 100-, 50- and 20-peso banknotes.

The BSP calls on the public to report to police or to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) should they possess one to identify the person behind its production. – UNTV News & Rescue
