Bureau of Immigration denies Robin Padilla's barred status

13 Sep - The Philippines' Bureau of Immigration (BI) has denied allegations made by actor Robin Padilla that he has been barred from leaving the country.

As reported on Inquirer, Padilla recently expressed his frustration on Instagram saying that he wasn't able to attend an event in China that was invited by the Sultanate of Sulu because of a hold order against him.

Padilla, who received an absolute pardon from President Duterte last year, stressed that he never encountered such problem before when he only had a conditional pardon from former President Fidel Ramos.

However, when asked about it, BI spokesperson and lawyer Maria Antonette Mangrobang denied that there was a hold order against Padilla, since all orders against him were lifted following the executive clemency.

"There is negative records from the BI Port Operations Divisions that Robin Padilla has went through immigration procedure in the last seven days, nor do we have any record that he was not allowed to depart recently," she said.
