DESPITE the recent declaration of a state of emergency (SOE) within the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), the GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation (GMCAC) clarified that all airport operations are continuing as normal.
Andrew Harrison, GMCAC chief executive advisor, said with the exception of the temporary travel ban for foreign nationals from China, Hong Kong, and Macau, there are no additional requirements for passengers, airlines and stakeholders at the airport.
The Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) declared a state of emergency within the MCIA last Monday, February 3, 2020.
Steve Dicdican, MCIAA general manager, belied any information saying that the airport has closed as a result of the SOE declaration.
He said the purpose of the SOE is to ensure the appropriate legal framework is in place should the need arises for MCIAA to take over facilities, such as aircraft hangars, to accommodate quarantined passengers. (WBS)
