THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) has authorized the filing of criminal charges against a motorcycle dealer for tax evasion and submission of spurious/falsified documents.

Transportation Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante, in a memorandum dated October 20, 2020, authorized LTO Central Visayas Victor Emmanuel Caindec to refer, coordinate and file an appropriate case with government offices against DES Strong Motors Inc.

In a memorandum, Galvante confirmed receipt of the case report and recommendation of LTO-7 against DES Strong Motors Inc. for having committed acts contrary to the issued policies and other existing laws.

Galvante said the administrative case against DES Strong Motors Inc. is now subject to a hearing for evaluation.

DES strong Motors Inc. is one of the five motorcycle dealerships operating in the entire country but based in Cebu and Bohol that were issued show-cause orders for violating the agency's rules of accreditation.

Caindec identified these dealers as Du Ek Sam Inc., Des Marketing Inc., Des Strong Motors, Desmark Corp. and Premio Corp.

Caindec in an interview said that by law, he is authorized to pursue charges against erring dealers but since several allegations were hurled against him in his investigation on the matter he forwarded the matter to Manila.

"The action of Central Office simply validated the actions we are taking in the region," Caindec said. (MVG)
