Capitol ‘off-limits’ for 3 days

WORK at the Cebu Provincial Capitol is suspended for three days, starting Wednesday, July 1, 2020.

Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia issued a memorandum to disinfect the whole compound as a precaution against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

First to be disinfected on Wednesday morning will be the receiving area, conference room, the provincial administration office, the human resources office, social hall, the budget and treasurer’s offices, the barangay affairs office, the legal office and the agriculture office.

After lunch, the planning development office, the tourism office, the chapel, the information and communication technology office and the engineering’s office will be disinfected.

On Thursday, July 2, the health office, the bids and awards committee office, the accounting and pre-audit office, the public employment service office, the environment and natural resources office, the social welfare and development office, the veterinary office, the assessor’s office, the medical clinic, the maintenance office and all comfort rooms and hallways. The legislative building will be disinfected on Thursday as well.

On Friday morning, July 3, the disaster risk reduction and management office, the information office, the general services warehouse, the soil laboratory, the veterinary laboratory and the health laboratory will be disinfected. In the afternoon, it will be the turn of the motorpool, the general services main warehouse, the depot and the general surroundings.

A team from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office will conduct the activity with the help of personnel from the health office and the Civil Security Division.

The Capitol compound will open to the public on Monday, July 6.

Two Capitol employees have died from Covid-19.

Based on the latest records of the Provincial Health Office, 15 Capitol employees have tested positive for the coronavirus. Two have recovered. (ANV, PJB)
