Cebuano basketball star Carl Tamayo will make a return to the Gilas Pilipinas men’s national basketball team as he is part of the pool that will train for the third window of the 2023 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers and the 2022 Fiba Asia Cup in Indonesia, both slated for next month.
Fresh off the University of the Philippines’ title conquest in the UAAP, the 6-foot-7 big man from Talisay City will be joined in the Gilas pool by his Fighting Maroons teammate James Spencer.
Also in the pool are Ateneo aces Ange Kouame, SJ Belangel, Dave Ildefonso, and Geo Chiu, La Salle forward Justine Baltazar, and Far Eastern University playmaker RJ Abarrientos. Also back are Thirdy Ravena, Dwight Ramos, Will Navarro, and LeBron Lopez.
The Gilas pool has new faces in its fold led by the NCAA’s Most Valuable Player, Rhenz Abando, La Salle’s Kevin Quiambao, and the University of Santo Tomas’ Sherwin Concepcion.
