Cases in Cebu City, other cities still rise

THE Cebu City Health Department has recorded 106 new cases of Covid-19 on June 9, 2020.

It also recorded 83 new laboratory-negative cases and one new death.

The 106 new cases are from the following barangays: Apas (five); Basak San Nicolas (one); Luz (one); Calamba (one); Camputhaw (three); Budlaan (one); Capitol (two); Cogon Pardo (two); Duljo (one); Ermita (nine); Inayawan (one); Kinasang-an (13); Labangon (three); Lahug (16); Lorega (three); Mambaling (one); Pahina Central (one); Pardo (three); Pasil (two); Punta (two); Quiot (seven); Cogon Ramos (one); T. Padilla (three); Talamban (one); Tinago (seven); Tejero (one); Tisa (two); Suba (two); Sawang (one); Sambag 2 (four); Sambag 1 (five); and one case from an unverified address.

Meanwhile, the 83 new laboratory-negative patients are from Ermita (11); Bacayan (one); Pasil (41); Suba (five); Mambaling (nine); San Nicolas Proper (four); Sawang (four) and Punta Princesa (eight).

Cebu City now has a total of 2,988 confirmed cases with 1,710 recoveries and 33 deaths.

Meanwhile, Mandaue City reported one new confirmed case and one recovery on June 9.

The Mandaue City Public Information Office said the latest Covid-19 case is a 25-year-old woman from Sitio Lapyahan, Barangay Labogon.

Personnel from the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office immediately decontaminated the patient’s residence.

Mandaue City now has a total of 321 confirmed Covid-19 cases with 41 recoveries and seven deaths.

In Lapu-Lapu City, a 23-year-old resident of Pacific Villas, Barangay Suba Basbas became the 122nd Covid-19 case in the city.

This was confirmed by Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard "Ahong" Chan in his official Facebook page.

Chan said the patient was asymptomatic.

Other cases

In Cebu Province, 16 new Covid-19 cases were reported on Tuesday.

But Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia could not disclose where the new Covid-19 cases were from.

In Minglanilla, health officials reported three new cases including a 41-year-old man from Barangay Tubod who works for a government office in Talisay City. He reportedly showed Covid-19 symptoms like cough, fever and diarrhea.

Minglanilla’s second new case is a 30-year-old female health worker living in Barangay Lower Pakigne who works for a health facility in Cebu City and who attended to two previous Covid-19 cases from the town.

The third case is a 60-year-old woman from Barangay Linao who lives in a compound with multiple Covid-19 cases. She showed no symptoms of the disease.

The three new cases from Minglanilla were immediately isolated, their close contacts swabbed and their residences disinfected.

In Talisay City, Mayor Gerald Anthony Gullas Jr. reported four new cases on Tuesday, three of whom were hospital workers.

This brings the number of Covid-19 cases in Talisay City to 65 with 11 deaths and 23 recoveries.

In the City of Naga, two new cases were reported, a 43-year-old midwife from Barangay Colon and a 37-year-old male from Barangay Balirong who works as an electrician in one of the city’s private hospitals, bringing Naga’s total Covid-19 cases to five.

In Bogo City, the cases have gone up to four after a 42-year-old health worker from Barangay Gairan tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday.

In Cebu Province, the current number of recorded Covid-19 cases is 306. (RSR, KFD, JKV, ANV, JKV)
