9 Sep – Catriona Gray has recently been appointed the new ambassador of the Philippine Red Cross.
As reported on Rappler, the beauty queen-turned-singer who spoke about her appointment recently, stated that she is honoured and excited over the new partnership.
"I really believe in all the work they do, especially during a time like this that our nation is facing this pandemic," she said.
Gray also made an appearance at the Philippine Red Cross' headquarters in Mandaluyong recently, and even underwent a swab test for coronavirus.
"The longer we're in the pandemic, I feel the more it's easier for people to become more complacent or to think it has passed. But it's really consistent with the messaging that we really need to adapt all those health guidelines into our everyday lives, like hand washing, or being aware of the symptoms, knowing what symptoms to look out for, and really alerting your workplace or your family or local health department," she said.
The former Miss Universe stated that aside from raising awareness about the pandemic, she would also campaign for more blood donations in the country.
"[I am also] hoping to call for donations that will allow testing, and services of the Philippine Red Cross to be accessible to every single Filipino," she added.
