21 Jul – Catriona Gray's camp has recently released a statement to put out the fire over the circulation of the beauty queen's fake topless photo.
As reported on GMA News, on 20 July, Attorney Joji Alonso shared a screenshot of the alleged photo of the beauty queen on her social media account, saying that the image was edited to give a false impression of nudity, and that it was actually from Gray's Bench ad from 2014.
In a statement released soon after, Atty. Alonso stated, "It has come to our attention that an alleged topless photo of Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray has been spreading online and a certain tabloid will be releasing it. We want to inform the public that this photo is fake and digitally altered."
"We are actively coordinating with authorities to hold accountable whoever is behind this scheme and face penal sanctions accordingly. We will likewise take legal action against those involved in the manufacture and publication of said photo."
She also added that they have denounced the vicious attempt to tarnish Gray's good name, and firmly urge the public to be critical of what they see and share on social media.
