SEVENTEEN years ago, Edgar Sarsuella Ong was arrested for murder but he was subsequently released from jail.

He began a new life, working as a security guard. However, the 38-year-old resident of Barangay Mohon, Talisay City, Cebu will go back to jail after he was caught being involved in several armed robbery incidents.

Before Ong was caught, two women reported to the Talisay City Police Station at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 11, that they were separately robbed by a man driving a motorcycle wearing a yellow shirt and black helmet.

The first victim was Cindy Camacho Ababon, who said she was robbed at 11 a.m. in Barangay Bulacao. Thirty minutes later, Jenelyn Nuñez Repunte, 32, fell victim to the same armed robber in Barangay Tabunok.

A follow-up operation was launched by the police and Ong was identified through the security camera footage from establishments in the areas where the robberies had taken place. The police later arrested Ong.

The cell phones owned by the victims were recovered from the suspect. A .38 revolver was also seized from Ong.

Another victim from Barangay San Roque, Talisay City also identified Ong as the robber.
