CCFO: 157 fire alarms in 8 months

UP TO 157 fire alarms were raised over Cebu City and P467 million worth of properties were damaged by the blaze from the months of January to August this year.

According to the Cebu City Fire Office (CCFO), Barangay Lahug has the highest number of fire alarms with 10, followed by Barangay Duljo Fatima and Barangay Tisa with eight each.

Barangays Guadalupe, Mabolo and Basak San Nicolas had seven fire alarms each, while Punta Princesa and Kamputhaw had six.

There were also five fire alarms in each of Barangays Capitol Site, Apas, Mambaling, Bulacao and Ermita.

The remaining barangays had two to four alarms each.

According to SFO2 Wendell Villanueva, spokesperson of the Cebu City Fire Office, the total damage from the fires during the six months period had reached P467 million, of which P202.7 million occurred in January, P12.5 million in February, P53.9 million during the Fire Prevention Month of March, P64.2 million in April, P2.1 million in May, P108.9 million in June,

P19.2 million in July and P3.5 million in August.

The facilities that were either destroyed or damaged included 103 houses, 44 establishments and 10 cars. (BBT, TPT)
