THE Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) was recently given a level 2 accreditation by the Department of Health (DOH) for its improved facilities and services.

The accreditation, dated August 22, 2022 and signed by DOH 7 Director Jaime Bernadas, is valid until the end of this year. It is subject for renewal.

CCMC administrator Sonia Empinado said the hospital currently has 225 beds. It also operates an intensive care unit with 10 beds and an ambulance, both of which are also accredited by the DOH.

The CCMC used to be a four-story building with a 300-bed capacity. However, it was declared structurally unfit after sustaining heavy damage during the Oct. 15, 2013 earthquake. The old building was demolished a year later.

The new CCMC is housed in a 10-story building, but only the first three floors are opened. (PAC, PJB)
