THE Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) culminated the celebration of Police Community Relations month on Thursday, July 28, 2022.

The CCPO thanked the public for supporting their programs designed to prevent crime, especially in their war against illegal drugs.

The theme for this year's celebration is “Ugnayang Pulisya at Komunidad Tungo sa Mapayapa, Maayos, at Maunlad na Pamayanan.”

The culminating activity highlighted the giving of recognition to the police personnel and private individuals who have contributed for the success of CCPO's anti-criminality programs.

Lieutenant Colonel Maria Theresa Macatangay, information officer of CCPO, said the public plays a crucial role in maintaining order in the community.

Macatangay admitted that it is a challenge for them to provide security to the public considering that Cebu City has a large population.

She said that the current police-to-population ratio in the city is 1:2,000, which is far from the ideal 1:500 ratio.

“We're facing a very big challenge however we do not shy away from the challenge but we appeal to you to support your local police whatever help you can because at the end of the day it is a collective na pagbuhat, collective na pag-atubang aning pag-maintain nato sa peace and order ngari sa siyudad sa Sugbo,” she added.
