MEMBERS of the Mabolo Police Station met with the principal and students of the Urot National High School on Thursday, September 15, 2022, following the stabbing of one of its students Wednesday night, September 14.

Lieutenant Colonel Wilbert Parilla, deputy director for administration for the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said the chief of the Mabolo Police Station told him they discussed how to prevent the incident from happening again.

Although the stabbing did not take place inside school premises, he said the victim was attacked outside the school gate.

The student was on his way home when he was waylaid by four youngsters.

One of them suddenly stabbed him in the back with an icepick.

The victim was able to run back to the school to seek the assistance of the security guard, while the suspects fled.

During the police’s follow-up operation, they picked up a 15-year-old boy who was tagged as the one who stabbed the student.

During their initial investigation, police discovered that the suspect and the victim had an argument earlier.

They also learned that the four youngsters belonged to a gang, which led them to wonder if the stabbing was related to the ongoing feud between members of Bloods and Crips.

However, police said they need to determine the real motive behind the incident.

Because of what happened, the CCPO ordered the Mabolo Police Station to deploy a police officer outside the Urot National High School to secure students who are headed home after night classes. It also ordered the conduct of roving patrols inside school premises. (AYB/PJB)
