New CCTO chief wants Probe under its umbrella

THE newly installed department head of the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) wants to bring the Prevention, Restoration, Order, Beautification, and Enhancement (Probe) team under its own umbrella.

In an interview with SunStar Cebu Friday, November 4, 2022, CCTO acting department head Raquel Bohol-Arce said some functions of Probe, such as apprehending trisikad and electronic bicycles (e-bike) drivers plying on undesignated routes, are duplications of the mandate of the CCTO.

At present, the Probe team is a special body that is operating under the Office of the City Mayor.

Arce is balancing her duties as head of CCTO and Probe, and at the same time acts as an overseer of the city market office.

With the current status of Probe, Arce said that most of its personnel are only job order employees since it does not have its own budget for personal services.

"Mao nay akoang i-push and also, wala nay duplication of functions. One department na lang ang atoang tutokan," she said.

With her vast experience as head of different departments, including her recent stint in the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Arce said handling the transportation office is not a difficult task for her. (IRT)
