TWENTY-THREE individuals and institutions have received recognition from the Cebu City Government for the services they have rendered in helping the city strive and progress amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Outgoing city councilors, City Hall offices, church leaders, and businessmen were among the awardees during the 124th Independence Day Awards Night and Ball on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino in Cebu City.

In his speech, Mayor Michael Rama said the celebration of the country’s independence became meaningful by incorporating the awarding ceremony for distinguished individuals who had done their share in bringing Cebu City to where it is now.

“We have accomplished because we are around, we not I. Us not only you but all of us. For when we work together, progress will not be elusive, progress will just come before your face,” said Rama.

Among the awardees were outgoing Councilors Lea Japson, Eugenio Gabuya Jr., David Tumulak, Alvin Dizon and Prisca Niña Mabatid.
