THE Cebu City Council has amended the Anti-Noise Ordinance, which now includes a city-wide prohibition on the use of karaoke machines or other items causing loud noises in residential areas amid a public health emergency.
The Council approved the amendment to the Anti-Noise Ordinance or City Ordinance No. 309 on January 27, 2021.
1. Only on Sundays
The amended ordinance only allows the public to use machines causing loud noises during Sundays but only up to 6 p.m.
2. Prohibited machines
The machines which are prohibited included, but not limited to, high-sounding, high-powered and amplified machines, radios, audio systems, CD players, and musical instruments.
3. Fines for violators
Violators may be fined not more than P5,000 or be imprisoned for not more than six months, or both, depending on the discretion of the court. (JJL)
