THE Cebu City Health Department (CCHD) has appealed to residents to help and join barangay officials in conducting clean-up drives, as dengue cases continue to rise.

CCHD head Dr. Jeffrey Ibones said Monday, June 6, 2022, that after harmonizing their data with the Department of Health, the number of dengue cases recorded from January to June 3, 2022 is now at 946.

The number of cases is already 369.53 percent higher compared to the 256 cases recorded during the whole of 2021, he added.

Ibones urged residents not to wait for the barangays in cleaning their surroundings, stressing it now necessary for the community to work together to prevent the spread of the disease.

"Dili na lang to mo huwat, kay ang barangay daghan sad og problema, dili lang kita. Naa man na tungod sa atoa, naa sa atong palibot, mag tinabangay ta," said Ibones.

Ibones added that most of the barangays with high cases are densely populated, so the help of its residents is very vital.
