THE first-ever National Rhythmic Gymnastics Tournament, dubbed “The Sinulog Cup,” will kick off on Jan. 24, 2020 at the Robinsons Galleria Atrium in Cebu City. The tournament hopes to showcase the talents of young gymnasts all over the country.
The main objective of this competition is to improve the competence level of the athletes as they prepare to be world champions through exposure. It also hopes to allow gymnasts from other regions to meet higher-caliber gymnasts and at the same time, develop a positive self-esteem by instilling the values of good sportsmanship, self-discipline, respect and accountability.
The organizers are grateful for the support and hope to build a bridge of friendship among clubs to make rhythmic gymnastics a leading sport in the country.
The Sinulog Cup is spearheaded by The Academy of Cebu Gymnastics (ACG). The Academy is a registered organization which has Mikhaela Kirsten Silverio, a national gold medalist and a former Philippine National Team Athlete, as its director. She is also a certified national coach and a national judge.
In the past year, ACG has helped athletes gain success winning 20 gold medals, 12 silvers, 20 bronzes in local and national tournaments.
The Sinulog Cup is held in alliance with Philippine National Team head coach Dyanara Arandela, in partnership with the Cebu City Government and the Cebu City Sports Center and supported by Councilor Donaldo Hontiveros, and the Cebu City Sports Commission Board of Commissioners. (PR)
