Cebu City launches ‘Balik Eskwela Pabakuna Ta Extrabonanza’

THE Cebu City Government has ramped up its vaccination efforts for the students with the full implementation of face-to-face classes in all public schools.

Mayor Michael Rama led the grand launching of the “Balik Eskwela Pabakuna Ta Extrabonanza” at the Tisa II Elementary School in Barangay Tisa Monday, November 7, 2022.

Based on data presented, there are a total of 217,198 enrolled students across all public schools in the city but only 103,675 students have been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

To encourage the children to get vaccinated, the City Government, in partnership with private sponsors, will be giving away two condominium units, one car, several motorcycles, and other prizes.

Rama said that to protect the privacy of the children, the raffle will be participated by their parents.

According to Rama, there is a need to “complete the cycle” by making sure that all citizens, including the students, are vaccinated against the virus.

“We have to complete the cycle. We are already declaring freedom, shared responsibility... nangabli nata sa eskwelahan, kinahanglan atoang tiwason tanan kini (we’ve opened the schools, so we need to finish everything),” said Rama. (IRT)
