CEBU City's top officials mourned the passing of former Cordova mayor and Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO) undersecretary Adelino Sitoy.
Mayor Edgardo Labella said the death of Sitoy was "bittersweet," as he died on the day of the blessing of the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway.
Labella said Sitoy had been pushing for the project and contributed to realizing it.
"As we all very well know, Addy was a key player in realizing this project," said Labella.
The mayor narrated when he happened to meet Sitoy some two years ago in Banilad, Sitoy told him about his plans for the third bridge and the proposed reclamation project in his hometown Cordova.

"What he told me, 'you know Edgar, these plans will be realized, but I will no longer be around. I may not be able to live that long,'" Labella quoted Sitoy saying.
Labella said Sitoy was his longtime friend and a colleague in public service.
He also described Sitoy as the champion of Cebuano culture, history and heritage. "Gipasigarbo ni Addy ang pagka Bisaya. Si Addy usab garbo nato'ng mga Bisaya," Labella said.
Cebu City Vice Mayor Michael Rama recalled when he chaired the Regional Development Council (RDC), it was the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway that the RDC shared with Sitoy.
"The bridge had long been a dream of his, for more than 30 years, and it was a dream we in the RDC shared with him and one that we all worked together to make a reality," said Rama. "Sec. Sitoy’s legacy will be forever cherished by the people of Cordova and the many lives he has touched through his years as a public servant and as an educator," Rama said.
