Cebu City records 167 new infections, 1 death

ON PHILIPPINE Independence Day, June 12, 2020, the Cebu City Health Department (CHD) recorded 167 new cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

The CHD also recorded 129 new recoveries from Barangays Basak Pardo (1), Luz (58), Bulacao (1), Calamba (6), Carreta (26), Labangon (1), Tejero (18), Tinago (14), Sambag 1 (1), San Roque (1), and two from the Cebu City Jail.

The 167 new Covid-19 cases are from Barangays Apas (2), Basak San Nicolas (5), Basak Pardo (1), Luz (4), Buhisan (2), Bulacao (6), Calamba (2), Camputhaw (28), Capitol Site (1), Cogon Pardo (2), Duljo (1), Ermita (1), Guadalupe (2), Hipodromo (1), Inayawan (10), Kalunasan (1), Labangon (4), Lahug (2), Lorega (2), Mabolo (15), Mambaling (1), Pahina Central (2), Pari-an (2), Pasil (3), Pulang Bato (1), Punta Princesa (3), Quiot (2), Sambag 2 (23), Sawang Calero (4), T. Padilla (6), Talamban (1), Tejero (7), Tinago (5), Tisa (4), and 11 from the Cebu City Jail.

One additional death from Basak Pardo was also recorded.

Cebu City now has 3,361 Covid-19 positive patients with 1,841 recoveries and 36 deaths.

Nationwide cases

Meanwhile, the Department of Health reported an additional 615 cases of coronavirus infection, bringing the total case count in the country to 24,787.

The agency also reported 16 additional mortalities that raised the death toll to 1,052 and 289 more recoveries for a total of 5,454 as of 4 p.m., Friday.

Of the additional cases, 336 are fresh cases, or those whose test results were released in the last three days, while 279 are late cases, or results that were released at least four days ago.

Worldwide, nearly 7.3 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus, or Sars-CoV-2, which causes Covid-19, according to the World Health Organization.

Of the total, 413,372 had died as of June 11, 2020. (JJL, SunStar Philippines)
