THE Cebu City Government has released P16 million worth of financial assistance to over 1,000 families affected by recent fire incidents in the different barangays.

The City Public Information Office reported that the cash aid was distributed in Barangays Ermita, Punta Princesa and Quiot on Saturday, September 10, 2022.

The City Government was able to provide financial assistance to 819 families in Punta Princesa, 156 families in Ermita, and 98 families in Quiot.

Owners of destroyed houses received P20,000 each. Renters or individuals who shared space of the affected house were able to receive P10,000 each.

The cash assistance received by the affected families can be used to procure construction materials to rebuild their houses.

City Treasurer’s Office disbursing officer Isidro Abellar Jr. said that in Ermita, some were not able to receive the cash aid since they were not able to present the “intake forms” given to them by the City’s Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWS).

The form proves that individuals who will claim their financial assistance have already been validated, showing that they are legitimate victims of a fire incident, Abellar added.

Those who lost their forms may go to the DSWS office to ask for a new copy of the form.

Some fire victims were also unable to receive cash assistance because they were not registered voters of the barangay.

Abellar said fire victims should present a copy of their voter’s registration certificate and barangay certificate to prove that they are residing in the area.
