THE Cebu City Government is set to release a total of P277 million in financial assistance beginning on Friday, May 13, 2022, four days after the national and local elections.

Mare Vae Reyes of the City Treasurer’s Office said on Wednesday, May 11, that around 49,000 individuals will receive cash aid from the City.

Reyes said this will include the aid intended for the victims of Typhoon Odette (Rai) and recent fire incidents, beneficiaries of Tabang Alang sa Panginabuhian sa atong Trabahante (Tapat) program, economic stimulus recipients, and octogenarian beneficiaries.

The regular honorarium of barangay health workers will also be rolled out together with that for the beneficiaries of the special program for the education of students.

According to Reyes, the City is now finalizing the list of the beneficiaries and completing the necessary documents so that the scheduled distribution will push through on Friday.

Reyes said they are considering the covered courts of different barangays for the distribution.

In a press conference Wednesday, reelected Mayor Michael Rama said all offices will help in the distribution of the cash aid.

“I am telling my staff, I am telling all members of city hall officialdom, including me, including those in the air-conditioned (offices). We will all go out and be part of the massive distribution,” said Rama.

Rama has vowed to finish the remaining projects under the “21 gun salute” impact projects.

The nine projects that are still in progress include the conclusion of the payment for the South Road Properties loan, curing of the joint venture agreement for the Carbon Market Redevelopment, and the materialization of the 93-1 land deal with the Cebu Provincial Government.

The mayor also plans to finish the city’s street lighting project, asphalt storm, traffic summit, free public WiFi, household lighting, and the two medium-rise buildings for socialized housing.
