CEBU City Councilor Raymond Alvin Garcia said the City is looking at two options on how to distribute the financial assistance of senior citizens amid the threat of Covid-19.
Garcia was tasked by Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella for the distribution of the financial assistance of senior citizens in the city.
He said the distribution would either be done by gathering the beneficiaries at barangay gyms or house-to-house, which would take time.
Garcia said if they would resort to gathering the beneficiaries at barangay gyms, they will limit the number of people who will claim while observing social distancing.
“We can have it by limiting the senior citizens only up to 100 for this day, and another batch for the following days,” Garcia said .
Garcia emphasized that there is no definite date yet when the distribution will be conducted.
He also said the group tasked to conduct the distribution has not yet finalized how it should be done.
There are around 80,000 senior citizens in the city.
After the senior citizens, financial assistance for persons with disabilities (PWD) will follow. (JJL)
