Cebu employers told: 30% additional pay for workers on Charter Day

EMPLOYEES who will be working during the 453rd Charter Anniversary of Cebu Province on Saturday, August 6, 2022, will receive an additional 30 percent of their daily wage.

August 6 of every year is a special non-working holiday in Cebu to celebrate the founding anniversary of the province.

The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board in Central Visayas (RTWPB 7) reminded employers in Cebu to follow what is required by law and pay the exact amount to their workers who will be reporting to work on the said date.

But for those employees who do not work on Saturday, the "no work, no pay" policy will apply.

Under Republic Act 8952 that was approved by former president Joseph Estrada in 2000, August 6 of every year is declared a special non-working holiday in the Province of Cebu to include the highly urbanized cities of Cebu and Mandaue and its component cities of Lapu-Lapu, Danao, Toledo, and the then municipalities of Naga, Carcar and Bogo, which were not yet converted into a city at that time.
