Cebu execs: Marcos should decide on barangay, SK polls’ fate

·1 min read

TOP officials of the Cebu City Government would leave the fate of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) to the decision of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

Mayor Michael Rama and Liga ng Mga Barangay President Franklyn Ong both said Wednesday, July 6, 2022, that the proposed postponement of the BSKE will be under the pleasure of the president.

Cebu City North District representative Rachel “Cutie” del Mar has already filed a bill in Congress to suspend the BSKE, which is scheduled to take place on December 5, 2022.

In del Mar's proposed measure, the election will be moved to December 4, 2023.

Rama refused to give his stance on the matter and said that the public should wait for the President's state of the nation address.

Ong also said that many congressmen have sought for the postponement of the BSKE but it will be the decision of the president that will be followed.
