Cebu FC destroys Mendiola FC

CEBU FC won back-to-back matches after a dominant 7-1 win over Mendiola FC 1991 on Friday, Sept. 16, 2022, at the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.

The match seemed to be over in first 45 minutes of the match after The Gentle Giants put on a scoring exhibition led by Turkish forward Arda Cinkir, who scored four goals in the opening half.

Cinkir gave Cebu FC the lead as early as the fifth minute. Jason Cordova made it 2-0 with an 18th minute goal.

Cinkir hit two straight goals in the 21st and 23rd minute to score a hat-trick.

Striker Chima Uzoka joined in on the fun and scored in the 36th minute, while Cinkir scored his fourth goal two minutes later.

Japanese defender Ren Okuda hit the back of the net in the 50th minute for Cebu FC’s final goal of the match.

Cameroonian striker Junior Sam scored for Mendiola FC 1991 a consolation goal after hitting the back of the net in the 67th minute.

For now, Cebu FC move up to second place behind Kaya FC-Iloilo with 11 points.

As of press time, Kaya FC was playing against defending champion United City FC (UCFC) at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.

If Kaya FC wins, the club remains unbeaten in tournament. But if UCFC is victorious, it keeps its spot at second place.

As of press time, Kaya FC is at the top of the table with 15 points, followed by Cebu FC with 11 points.

UCFC is third with 10 points, Stallion Laguna FC is fourth with six points, Azkals

Development Team is fifth with four points, Mendiola FC remained at sixth with three points and Maharlika Manila FC is at the bottom with no points.

Cinkir is currently tied with the top spot as the league’s leading scorer after his four-goal performance. He’s tied at six goals with Kaya FC Jarvey Gayoso.
