Cebu Federation of Beat Journalists reelects Bustamante as president

THE Cebu Federation of Beat Journalists (CFBJ) held its election of officers on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Cebu Quincentennial Hotel.

Arnold Bustamante of the Defense PNP Press Corps (Depp) retained the presidency of CFBJ during its election of federation officers held amid the 30th celebration of Cebu Press Freedom Week.

CFBJ is the only group of news reporters, photojournalists and video journalists from news organizations in Cebu.

Also elected were Herty Lopez of Regional Journalists in Cebu (Rejoice), vice president; Le Antojado of Capitol Association of Reporters in Tri-media (Cart), secretary; Calvin Cordova of Sports Correspondents and Reporters (Score), treasurer; and Nestle Semilla of Depp, auditor.

Also elected were Preciosa Bacalso of Online Journalists (OJ), public information officer for print; Fe Marie Dumaboc of Media in Cebu South (Mics), PIO for TV; and Lloyd Suarez of Media Association for Law, Liberty, Equality and Truth (Mallet), PIO for radio.

OJ is composed of the journalists employed at mass media outlets who primarily deal with the online operations of these news organizations.

Witnessing the CFBJ election were Cherry Ann Lim, editor-in-chief of SunStar Cebu, lead convenor of this year’s Cebu Press Freedom Week celebration, and Michelle So.

CFBJ is composed of 12 beat assignments.These are Rejoice, Depp, Cart, Mics, Score, Mallet, OJ, Charm (City Hall Association of Reporters in Media), E-Group (Entertainment Group), Ceja (Cebu Economic Journalists Association), Armalite (Association of Reporters in Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu for Truth and Excellence), and Lens.
