AFTER not being able to hold its general assembly in the past two years due to the pandemic, the Cebu News Workers and Community Multi-Purpose Cooperative (Newscoop) was able to hold one for this year.

Newscoop’s members and officers gathered for their 23rd annual general assembly at the Marcelo B. Fernan Press Center in Sudlon, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City on Saturday, July 16, 2022.

The general assembly carried the theme, “Newscoop: Growing community through innovation and resiliency.”

Coop NATCCO Party-list Rep. Felimon M. Espares was the guest speaker of the event.

The general assembly was presided over by lawyer Elias L. Espinoza, chairman of the board of directors. Also present were directors Marlinda Angbetic-Tan, vice chairperson; and Elias Baquero, Jovy Taghoy-Gerodias, Divine Sanchez-Ngujo, Oscar C. Pineda, Dr. Joseph Elvir C. Tubilan, Fred P. Languido and Gregg M. Rubio.

It was a day of fun and excitement as the attendees did not go home empty-handed.

Apart from the dividends and patronage fund, each of the members also received a sack of five kilos of rice and packs of noodles. These were all prepared by the management led by Evelyn S. Sarsale, Newscoop’s manager.

Some of the attendees were also extra lucky as they won freebies and prizes in the raffle draw.

With over 2,000 members, Newscoop is still expanding its membership. Any person who is interested to join the cooperative can inquire through its contact numbers 09275193135 (cell phone) and 345-4670 (landline) or through its Facebook page @cebunewscoop and email addresses cebunews96@gmail.com and cebunews.exeoffice@yahoo.com.
