VISITORS and tourists from other provinces in the country who wish to go to any of Cebu Province’s towns and component cities can now do so provided that they:
• Show their pre-booked accommodation reservations, or
• Register ahead at the Cebu Provincial Government’s online booking and tourism portal.
The Cebu Provincial Tourism Task Force made this agreement in a meeting called for by Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia on Thursday, February 11, 2021.
The task force will meet again next week to finalize the guidelines for stakeholders to follow upon the arrival of visitors and tourists to Cebu. The meeting will include tour operators, airlines, and shipping lines in Cebu Province.
“(The purpose of these travelers coming to Cebu) could be to visit relatives here, for business, or, more importantly, for tourism,” said Garcia in a broadcast report by Sugbo News.
According to the Omnibus Guidelines on the Implementation of the Community Quarantine in the Philippines as of January 21, 2021, the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases states that:
• Persons not authorized outside of residences (non-Apor) who are from areas placed under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) and General Community Quarantine (GCQ) can now cross borders for any purpose.
• They are subject to the reasonable regulations imposed by the concerned LGU. (SunStar Cebu)
