After a taking a sabbatical from the sport, Cebuano big man Greg Slaughter has signed a new contract to play for Barangay Ginebra and help the Kings in their quest for an all-Filipino title in the upcoming PBA Philippine Cup.

Ginebra’s decorated head coach Tim Cone confirmed the development and said he was happy to have the former University of the Visayas Green Lancer back in their fold.

“Yes, Greg has signed although I’m not privy to the details. We are happy to have him back,” said Cone in a talk with Spin.ph

The 32-year old took the basketball scene by surprise in January 2020 when he announced he was taking a sabbatical and vowed to improve himself on and off the floor. The next few months saw the big man exhaustively train with renowned trainer Gary Boyson and also marry longtime girlfriend, Schinina Juban.

Slaughter’s return will boost Ginebra’s frontline that already has star forward Japeth Aguilar and Most Improved Player winner Prince Caperal.

“He gives us such great versatility and a huge presence in the paint,” added Cone. (JNP)
