Cebuano boxer faces journeyman in US

CEBUANO James Bacon makes his US debut on March 14 (PHL time) in a six-rounder against Ramon de La Cruz Sena in Miami, Florida.

The 29-year-old Bacon, a native of Mandaue City, is looking to put on a good impression by winning his first fight in the US.

A few months ago, Bacon suferred a loss via unanimous decision in his Australia debut to Darragh Foley.

Before his loss to Foley, Bacon won three straight fights after a seven-year hiatus.

The former ALA boy beat Richard Betos, Jovany Rota and Jose Ocampo in that run.

The 33-year-old Sena is on a three-fight losing streak and won just one of his last 13 contests.

Bacon, who now trains at the Sanman Gym in Gen. Santos, is 23-4 with 15 knockouts, while Sena is 23-27-3 with 13 knockouts. (EKA)
