CEBUANO goalkeeper Kenry Balobo is one of the new players that will suit up for Philippines Football League (PFL) champion United City Football Club (UCFL) in its upcoming stint in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League that kicks off this April.
The 22-year-old Balobo made his transfer from Mendiola FC 1991 to UCFC official on March 17, 2021 after it was announced in the official UCFC Facebook page.
Balobo had an impressive performance in the 2020 PFL season, wherein he played as the starting goalkeeper for Mendiola FC 1991.
Balobo also played as the starting goalkeeper for the Don Bosco Technical College in high school and for San Beda University in the collegiate level. He also represented the country in international competition with the Under-23 Azkals squad.
Balobo is one of the 12 new signings for UCFC. The other new players that were already announced are Andreas Esswein, Kieran Hayes, Cebuano Ryan Jarvis, William Grierson, Mark Hartmann and American Jonny Campbell.
UCFC is in Group I of the AFC Champions League along with China’s Beijing FC, Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale and the playoff winner between South Korea’s Daegu FC and Thailand’s Chiangrai United.
UCFC is the first Filipino club that will compete in AFC Champions League, the most prestigious club tournament in Asia. (EKA)
