Barangay Ginebra’s Cebuano big man Greg Slaughter is on his way to the NorthPort Batang Pier after he was traded for skilled big man Christian Standhardinger in a blockbuster trade that was announced by the PBA on Friday morning.
Slaughter, a product of the University of the Visayas, recently came back and signed a new contract with Ginebra after spending over a year away from the team because of a self-imposed sabbatical.
However, his stay with the Kings was shortlived as he was traded for Standhardinger in a one on one trade involving two former top draft picks. The 7-foot Slaughter was the number one draft pick during the 2013 PBA Draft while Standhardinger was the top pick in the 2017 draft when he was selected by the San Miguel Beermen.
Standhardinger was a beast during the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup where he averaged 19.9 points, 12 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
Slaughter on the other hand, holds career averages of 13.8 points, 8.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.2 blocks.
Standhardinger’s arrival at Ginebra gives the Kings an imposing frontline as he will team up with the high-flying Japeth Aguilar. (JNP)
